Technology3000 is a core technology curriculum for grades 6-8 that meets the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills Standards.

Technology3000 provides instruction in:

  • How technology is used in society.
  • The use of specific software programs, such as the Microsoft Office suite and graphics programs.
  • The functions of commonly used computer hardware.
  • Using the Internet effectively and safely.
  • Technology ethics, such as how and why to avoid plagiarism and copyright infringement.

Technology3000 includes:

  • Weekly technology lessons that are delivered to students via a secure and spam-free e-mail system. (Kids can exchange e-mail only with teachers and classmates or schoolmates - you decide).
  • Textual information that is presented at each child's reading level or, if unavailable, the child's grade level.
  • A sophisticated stock market simulation that teaches students about business, investments and the economy.
  • The online edition of Almena, an innovative program that teaches keyboarding skills.

Weekly lessons include multiple choice or essay questions, along with tasks that give students practice in using software applications. Each activity is linked to a Texas state learning standard. Plus, to help keep kids engaged and on-task, the technology lessons are often provided in the context of topical news articles.

The reporting functions in Technology3000 keep teachers informed about their students' progress through the program and their mastery of specific state standards.
